Fertilising

Plants require adequate nutrition to grow, flower and fruit. We predominantly use a range of organic fertilisers on our gardens in preference to synthetic inorganic fertilisers.

There is a growing body of science that supports the notion that organic fertilisers preserve the soil biota which is important as these microorganisms play a vital role in natural nutrient cycling within the soil, as well as shaping well-structured soils that drain well and let in air and moisture.

In contrast a reliance on just synthetic fertilisers destroys the soil biota and this has consequences for soil health and plant nutrition.
